Mineral Makeup

Are you currently wearing a Mineral Makeup?  If not, I would like to recommend you start. You will have far less skin problems with mineral makeup. Why, you ask? The most important reason is that mineral makeup is micronized minerals not powder, whether loose or pressed.  Makeup powder is made of talc.  Talc is pore clogging.  This will only add to the various skin problems that so often occur, especially in adults usually between the ages of 20 – 40 years of age.

Snacking more, so let’s Snack Better!

Snacking more, so let’s Snack Better!

Let’s face it, we’ve become a snacking nation. It is no longer considered a stigma and no longer considered  “spoiler of appetites”.  Instead it is somewhat thought to be a healthful habit!    Snacks are not always nutritious contributions to the diet. Consumers are snacking more than ever and for several reasons: a pick me up, reward, break during the day, comfort, and simply mindless munching.  People are leaning more toward more healthful snacking in the morning, then shifting to less healthful choices in the evening. As people begin to turn to more frequent snacking, it is important to make food choices that provide essential nutrients in the total diet and to cut down on regular meal sizes. Focus on nutrient-rich options, balanced with a source of protein, fiber, and healthy fats and it becomes a win win solution to...

ModVellum Clinical Skin Care

As many of you know, I have recently take on a NEW line of Clinical skincare called ModVellum.  (I will continue to carry your favorite lines), but from what I have learned about ModVellum, I knew I had to be able to offer these wonderful Chrially correct products to my clientele.   This past Monday, I attended an in-depth product knowledge training of the ModVellum Clinical skincare products. It was extremely informative and will be on-going.   I have personally been using them for several months now and find them to be everything I had hoped. Back in January, I touched on these line and talked of the Porcelain Peel.  Now I will begin to explain more about why I have chosen to carry these products and explain more about them.   ModVellum is a brand that is built on a foundation of integrity, with the formulator/owner believing that she has a responsibility to not use harmful or toxic ingredients in her skincare.  She also believes that animals should never be used for beauty testing and that you can get active ingredients on your skin that penetrate without damaging skin or the environment. With that information, the beginning of my complete interest and trust in these products began.   After years of everyone burning off their faces with strong peels, she believes there is a different and gentler way.  Hence the category creators of Chiral-Luxury.  Believing that ingredient sources are just as important as the actual ingredients.  Also believing in leaving the planet better than when arrived, so all ingredients are 100 percent biodegradable and uses no plastic beads.   I will be adding additional information on the products and treatments themselves, in future newsletters.   If you would like further information regarding these products and treatments utilizing these products, or would like to schedule your appointment, please call me at 916-967-6266 or...

Face Reality Acne Care: Acne Cosmetica

Maybe you are one of those who has an acne problem or just a break out from time to time. Which ever category you fall into, if you want to get rid of the acne, you need to be more cautious of the makeup that can cause acne cosmetica and worsen the existing acne. While visiting the cosmetic counter where you buy your makeup, moisturizer and any other products to put on your face, check the label. If you see the words “hypoallergenic” or “non-allergenic”, make you feel, “this is a safe for my skin”! You might better think again. Many products that bear the label of some of the most recognized cosmeceutical companies in the world have ingredients that can clog pores or exacerbate skin conditions. The following is a list of a few makeup products that contain ingredients proven to make acne worse: Bare Minerals SPF 15 Matte Foundation MAC Studio Fix Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer Nars Blush Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup So, just because a product says “oil-free”, “healthy skin”, or “acne solutions”, that doesn’t mean that it is a safe choice for acne prone skin. I would be happy to provide a pore-clogging ingredients list to those acne-prone clients who want to be more diligent about their cosmetica product purchases. For questions or more information you can call me...

Nutrition: Don’t Get Burned on Frozen Meals

Since everyone seems to have such busy lives, there are times it is much easier to grab a frozen meal when you need something quick. The following hints may be helpful in your choices: Choose meals with at least 8 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber. If your frozen meal lacks in vegetables, mix in your favorite vegetable or add a salad or rich-vegetable soup. To boost the nutrient intake, you might add a glass of milk and some fruit. Vitamin D

Vitamin D

Since we’re beginning to have more daylight and more sun throughout the day, it’s time to think about Vitamin D. Yes, we do need Vitamin D. Do we need to use it topically? What is the best way to get the amount of Vitamin D needed to be healthy? What does it do for us? As far as applying it topically, it is touted that it gives us elasticity, hydration, pore reduction and skin radiance. This may or may not be true. Proper diet will do more for you and since Vitamin D is a fat-soluble (oil) vitamin that is found in very few foods. It is present in the skin of fatty fish (tuna, salmon and mackerel). Small amounts are also found in beef liver and egg yolks in the form of Vitamin D3. There are also supplements in fortified foods such as milk, butter and margarine. Other dairy products such as cheese are not typically fortified. Being Vitamin D deficient is large and medically significant. These issues include improper nail growth, bone density disorders and both kidney and liver dysfunction. Excessive intake of Vitamin D can also cause anorexia, headaches and vomiting to name a few. There are concerns that wearing sunscreen affects our ability to absorb Ultra Violet radiation. This is an extreme diagnosis. Sunscreens do allow some UV radiation to enter the body. It is sunblock (zinc oxide paste) that does not allow the absorption of any UVB radiation. Twenty minutes of sunlight 3 times a week will give you the proper amount of Vitamin D. In the end, if you do not wear sunscreen you are getting more than enough Vitamin D along with too much radiation. Most people do not apply sunscreen to their neck, hands, legs and arms each day. This alone will allow adequate UVB radiation to give you all the Vitamin D you...

HA-Supreme Serum

Posted by on Feb 10, 2015 in Product Knowledge | Comments Off on HA-Supreme Serum

HA-Supreme Serum

Super potent hyaluronic acid Hyaluronic Acid (a.k.a. HA, Hyaluronate or Sodium Hyaluronan) is one of the most important lipids found in the skin. It is an essential component for healthy skin as it surrounds collagen and fibril tissue by supplying nutrients and keeping it moist. This ingredient can be applied topically daily. This product is part of the Cell Recovery program and is both an anti-aging treatment and a significant moisturizer. It utilizes a natural preservative and is extremely light on the skin. HA fights free radical damage that occurs in the skin and causes the accelerated aging of the skin. It will replenish essential antioxidants and other key components that are destroyed by ultra violet radiation and it will revitalize the skin by adding nutrients. It should be noted that Hyaluronic Acid regulates the water content in connective tissue and holds 1000 times it’s weight in water. Thus, a wonderful moisturizer for that very dry skin. In the past, I have recommended Hyaluronic Acid Lotion to assist those with very dry skin. This NEW HA-Surpreme Serum is 7 times stronger. HA-Supreme Serum will be available the 1st of March. For further information or to pre-order, call me at...

Stop Colds and Flu

Washing your Hands Most of us know that keeping hands clean through improved hygiene is one pf the best ways to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. But do you know the proper way to wash? Recommendations from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) are as follows: 1) Wet your hands with clean, running water, turn off the tap and apply soap. 2) Lather hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between the fingers, and under your nails. 3) Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice. 4) Rinse your hands well under clean, running water. 5) Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them. 6) Do this often throughout the day. You can cut back on those steps if you are using AntisepationTM Cleansing Gel (OTC Drug). Antisepation kills 99.996% of harmful germs, including E.coli, Pseudomonas, and Staph, on contact. No water? Try AntisepationTM Foaming Hand Sanitizer (OTC Drug). It is alcohol free, does not require washing or rinsing, and eliminates bacterial contamination on contact. Call for further information or to order...
